How we integrate sustainable practices into our everyday operations
At AIS Wind Energy, our commitment to sustainability extends beyond the turbines themselves and into every aspect of our project delivery, including our lifting and engineering practices.
All lifting operations we deliver within the wind energy sector are carried out using our modern, fully owned fleet of all-terrain heavy-lifting equipment, which is specifically designed for use on wind turbine projects. Our Liebherr LTM1230 features ECO drive technology, helping us to save fuel and reduce noise using enhanced travel drive tuning, making it a more energy-efficient choice. We also use skilled personnel and resources across the UK, Ireland and Europe, which allows us to maximise efficiency and reduce unnecessary resource use further.
When it comes to decommissioning projects and major component exchange, we look for opportunities to find better business practices, such as using WEEE-certified disposal services for waste electrical and electronic equipment. We have also partnered with a blade and nacelle cover recycling specialist operating across the UK and EU, strengthening sustainability within our supply chain. This supports circular economy principles by repurposing decommissioned blades and covers into products such as fencing stakes.
Wider sustainability as part of the AIS Group
Sustainability is a priority for the wider AIS Group, with commitments to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050. Working alongside our fellow Group companies, we support a range of initiatives designed to reduce environmental impact and drive long-term sustainable growth.
At Group level, all AIS facilities now operate using renewable electricity sources, contributing to a significant reduction in carbon emissions across the business. Within AIS Wind Energy, we also encourage flexible and remote working for office-based employees, helping to reduce travel-related emissions.
The AIS Group has achieved ISO 14001 accreditation, the internationally recognised standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS). This accreditation provides a structured framework for identifying, managing, monitoring and continually improving environmental performance across all Group companies, ensuring sustainability remains embedded in the way we operate.
